Adding Videos To WP-PaySite Updates

In this tutorial you will find out how to add video updates to a PaySite built with WP-PaySite WordPress plugin.First of all make sure your post is saved before adding video files. If you are entering the new post use “Save Draft” button. Note that your video have to be in FLV format. You also have to prepare JPEG thumbnail with a screencap from your video. After your draft is saved locate the “PaySite Options” block of your “Edit Post” page and hit the “select” button.

The Media Library pop-up dialog will appear.

Select 2 files (FLV file and video still thumbnail) from your computer. After the files are uploaded hit the “Show” link of the JPEG file. The file properties section will appear.

Locate and hit the “Insert into Post” button at the bottom of the image properties section. The Media Library pop-up will go away and the “PaySite Options” block will look like this:

Don’t worry if thumbnail cropping is not looking good. This is just a thumbnail for administrator area display. The front-end version will have correct proportions.

As you may assume, “change” button will call a Media Library dialog again so you can modify files. The “delete” button will unlink video from the update.

That is is. Don’t forget to save your post. Any “PaySite Options” modifications will not be visible at the front-end of your paysite until the post is saved.

Also do not forget to put the post into your updates category (for the default WP-PaySite theme put it into both “updates” and “videos” categories).

Have you ever ran into a problem when you change a thumbnail dimensions in the media settings of your WordPress installation but all your previously added images thumbnails keeps their old dimensions? This plugin will fix this issue.

WP-Recreate-Thumbnails plugin works really simple. It has no interface. Just put it into WordPress plugins folder, activate it and each time you change thumbnail dimensions at the media settings page all existing thumbnails will be recreated.

The plugin uses WordPress cropping routine. When new files are created the old ones are not deleted.

Setting Up WP-Paysite Plug-in with Default Theme Tutorial

Here is the step-by-step tutorial on configuring WP-Paysite Theme. Actually this theme doesn’t require any specific configuration and will work as it is. The following instructions are just some general recommendation.

It is assumed that you have uploaded and activated WP-PaySite plug-in and WP-PaySite theme. Some WordPress usage experience is also required.

The following steps assume you either have a fresh WordPress installation, or know what are you doing. So here you go:

Go to Settings –> Premalinks, select Custom Structure and set the permalink format to /%category%/%postname%/.
Rename your Uncategorized category into Updates. This step is optional. Everything will work fine if you will leave the category name as it is or will name is somewhat different.
Create another category named Blog at the root level. Actually we just need the blog slug. The name doesn’t matter.
Under Updates category create two subcategories called photos and videos.
Create a page called Join. Also make sure the default About page exists.
Go to Settings –> Media and set thumbnail width to 136, height to 181. Medium image both width and height to 514.
Go to Settings –> Reading and adjust post per page settings to the number of updates you would like to be displayed per each tour page. Note that after third page of the updates Continue Tour button will lead to sign-up page.
